This needs an introduction, and a disclaimer
So we've moved yet again at the behest of the military. This time to a place not of our choosing... or liking for that matter. In fact, I cried about it for several months after I found out. Of course I threatened him with "I'm not going!" rants about how "there's no reason I have to be there" and "I'm not in the military! They can't order me!!" However, I am in the military aren't I? Aren't all we spouses? And so... I went. We all knew I would from the beginning anyway, eh?
So my 8 yr old and I were talking at bedtime last night about how perfect it would be if we could just take our favorite things and people from each of the places we've lived and move them all to one place. It got me thinking. 1. I have had this thought as well so it's a genius idea for its simplicity or I think like a 3rd grader and 2. We really have done an awesome job of experiencing life in our respective 'homes' learning to live like, and love, the way of life there. At each place we of course fight it at first... holding on to our preconceived notions of what our life is and how we define ourselves so we don't appear to be sheep following the heard. But then we acquiesce, picking up tips, tricks, styles, behaviors, colloquialisms, causes, hobbies and sports teams along the way. We are a much happier and interesting military family for it. There are reasons the Romans do certain things, aren't there?
It was enough to wish I had made a blog about it from the beginning.
Well, aside from starting and growing a family of five and finishing graduate school through these moves I wasn't busy at all. So that blog didn't happen. Plus back then, before EVERYONE had a blog, the idea of starting it was intimidating. Now I realize I did and do have things to say that are worthwhile. So, in this blog I am going to transcend the chains of time and space and I'm going to post retro entries about all of our great adventures. No worries about chronology here! Just good old-fashioned 'on-the-internet-you-can-do-anything-you-want' and... AMERICA! The end.
So re-live these adventures with me and see our new and future adventures as well.
Because, when (forced by the US Military by the issuance of PCS orders to live) in Rome, Do as the Romans!!
